Main objective of the project was to detect, identify and map all land cover changes above 5 ha, which occurred between 2006 and 2012. Satellite images acquired between March 2011 and October 2012 served as basis for image interpretation. National orthophotos and database of topographic objects were also used to support the interpretation process. The CLC2012 database was generated according to the instructions of ETC-LUSI Technical Team and with the help of given macro program. Steps to create the CLC2012 were as follows:- Union of CLC2006revised and CLC-Changes2006-2012 databases using Esri ArcToolbox;- Quality control of all data (i.e. attributes, size, width of polygons, codes) using ArcGIS software and ArcInfo Workstation;- Control of topological correctness (i.e. no holes, no overlaps, no multi-part polygons, and no dissolve errors);- CLC-Changes2006-2012 polygons ’code2006’ was replaced by ‘code2012’;- Neighbours with similar code were unified;- Small (less than 25 ha) polygons were generalized according to a priority table created by the ETC-LUSI Technical Team in supporting macro program;- On line quality control using CLC QC Tool.
